The Role
The Assistant Manager role combines hands-on audit delivery with the supervision and development of junior team members. Working closely with Managers, Directors and Partners, the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing audit engagements, reviewing work performed by remote team members and maintaining strong client relationships throughout the audit process. This is a Jersey based role.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Planning & Risk Assessment: Assist Managers, Directors and Partners in developing audit strategies, identifying key risk areas, establishing engagement budgets, and ensuring audits are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Engagement Management: Take ownership of the day-to-day management of audit engagements, coordinating audit teams, monitoring progress against budgets and deadlines, and ensuring timely completion of assignments.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, coach and mentor junior team members and colleagues within our remote delivery teams. Provide constructive feedback, support professional development, and contribute to performance reviews.
- Technical Delivery & Review: Perform and review audit testing in complex accounting and audit areas, including revenue recognition, valuations, impairment assessments, financial instruments and group audits, applying relevant accounting frameworks such as IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP where applicable.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong working relationships with management and finance teams, responding to queries promptly, and ensuring a high standard of client service.
- Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure audit work is completed in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) (UK), regulatory requirements and PKF quality standards. Review audit documentation and resolve review points prior to Manager or Partner review.
- Business Development & Firm Initiatives: Support business development activities, contribute to proposals and tender opportunities, and participate in firm-wide initiatives that enhance the client experience and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Qualification: Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred, but part qualified considered.
- Experience: Typically newly qualified to three years post-qualification experience within a professional audit environment, preferably with exposure to Jersey financial services clients as well as local commercial client experience desirable.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of auditing standards, financial reporting frameworks and risk-based audit methodologies.
- Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop team members, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Personal Attributes: Proactive, commercially aware, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a commitment to quality and client service
- Resident in Jersey, Channel Islands.
